Freud’s transition from Metapsychology to Psychoanalysis was profoundly marked by the focus on sex. The physician and sexologist Wilhelm Reich went to study with Freud and became the youngest practicing analyst of his times. Reich’s unique and neglected contribution to Freud was his return to the body and continued elaboration of sex at the foundation of medicine, psychoanalysis, and healing which Lacan would also return to in his own style, and which would profoundly influence the development of Guattari’s Schizoanalysis and “Anti-Oedipus.” In this year’s Analytica Clinical Seminar we will focus on Reich’s work and its relation to Freud, Lacan, and psychoanalysis.
